An Introduction To The Vici Pool Table

There’s no doubt that the world of pool has grown over the last few years.

In 2023, for instance, the average Snooker World Championship viewership peaked at 1.4 million viewers, which was a 12% rise from the year before – overall, it reached 13.3 million, with 23.3 million streams watched from the beginning to the final. The pool table market also grew from $244.87 million in 2023 to $258.91 million in 2024, with an expected CAGR of 4.98% over the next few years.

In the sportsbook world, too, interest in cue sports has slowly been growing, with niche betting markets emerging for snooker and billiards tournaments alike. It might be a little slower in New Zealand, with platforms discontinuing their sports betting services to focus on their core casino offerings, but cue sports as a whole still manage to attract attention.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the response to the new Vici Pool Table, unveiled this year as part of the 95th anniversary of Pininfarina and Brandt Studio. Ordinarily, a new pool table design wouldn’t really spark a lot of conversation, but the Vici (and its price tag) has been generating widespread buzz, with enthusiasts, players, and design fans all taking notice.

Over the last 95 years, Pininfarina has evolved from its roots in automotive design to a multidisciplinary design powerhouse, and it’s now lending its expertise to bespoke pool tables to create the Vici Pool Table collection.

The collaboration with Brandt Studio has come at just the right time for the sport. As more people get involved and take an interest in pool, more demand has come for premium, super expensive, high-end equipment.

This has led to the ‘Vici Design by Pininfarina’, which is a bold reinterpretation of a pool table, where ‘elegance meets performance’. Combining tournament-grade functionality with a striking, almost sculptural design, this table embodies both triumph and mastery – a fact which should come as no surprise given that it’s named after those famous words of Julius Caesar himself: ‘Veni, Vidi, Vici’.

Presumably, the goal of its designers is to live up to that pinnacle of luxury to which Caesar’s name has become attached over the years. For nigh-on six centuries, Caesars Palace itself has served as a focal point of the luxury world, frequented by VIPs and emulated by any respectable online platform seeking to emulate that marble-and-velvet atmosphere through slots like Ave Caesar by Dynamic Ways. That Roman decadence is as synonymous with luxury as modern names like Hermes, Bulgari, and Chanel.

According to Francisco Barboza, Senior Design Manager, Vici is the result of ‘95 years of experience across diverse fields’, all of which is now coming together to create a pool table that excels in both form and function.

As we mentioned before, much of the buzz is about it being the ‘ultimate table’ for pool players, and this could certainly be true but it comes with a price tag that most Kiwis would find "out of budget".

Our slate bed pool table range are all priced at just $5250 and are supplied with free accessories and table/cloth colour upgrades.  NZ’s favourite pool table, the Richmond Pool Table, has more than 40 different colour combination options. We have sold heaps of these for more than a decade for good reason.

The Camden Pool Table, at the same price point, is another firm Kiwi favourite. This table has been used for decades for the World Pool Championships and is also supplied with free accessories.
